The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa is a slide projection of a pixelated detail out of Giovanni Lorenzo Bernini´s “Ecstasy of St. Teresa”.  Projected in an ovally golden picture frame, the adapted detail plays with the media strategy for hiding faces or people´s private parts in public representations and with the possible interpretation of the sculpture itself – between sensual and spiritual pleasure. Female sexuality and the idea of a woman as a saint.

POV_Point Of View is an istallation of different works made for Puzzle – The Collection Exhibition at GfZK Leipzig, curated by Julia Schaefer. POV is concerned with questions of collecting like in Bestand (Holdings) – how many works from female and male artist are in the collection – Polaroid – the “uniqueness” asks when is art worth collecting and what does it mean – Aerofix 100 S – is there such thing as “female art” and “male art”, do objects have a gender? The clothes dryer is also a little hommage to Rosemarie Trockel – its synonym: “The Trockler”.
POV also captured other artists, whose work is within the collection like O.T. With Rose – Maria Lassnig “Selfportrait with rose” combined with Pippilotti Rist “Ich habe nur Augen für dich” (Pin down Jump up Girl), 4Beats per breath – Michael Sailstorfer “Ground Beat” – As slow as possible – Stefan Knechtl “Metronom” – also referes to John Cage, whose work often challenged the system in place – sometimes even was´nt art for some people.

Picture order: 1 POV – exhibition view / 2 4Beats per Breath / 3 Bestand / 4 Aerofix 100 S / 5 O.T. with Rose / 6 Polaroid / 7 As Slow As Possible (2,3,7 – by Claudia Lindner)

Magic Carpet was made for “Leistung !” – “Power!” at Kunstverein Leipzig. The works topic, is the every-day demand of fitness and well being and the existing naturalness to help make it happen with medicine but nobody speaks about it. But also one other side of medication – having the possibility to feel better and live a live of full live despite of a chronically health condition.

Rosa Hellblau / Pink Light Blue is an installation in public space – an old school sports hall – and raises the question about the theorie, that every human beeing is a “tabula rasa” – “White” in the beginning. But the usual cliché role model thinking, gives everybody a “color” right before she/he can say “mama” and seperates babys in pink and blue ones, filled with atributes of feminity and masculinity.

Maria Mantling contains the piture-conception of the stage design for Maria XXX from Heike Hennig & CO, developed in collaboration with architects Noriko und Felix Minkus. A detail out of Giovanni Lorenzo Bernini´s “Ecstasy of St. Theresa” provides its basis, whose adaptation plays with the media strategy for hiding faces or people´s private parts in public representations and with the possible interpretation of the sculpture itself – between sensual and spiritual pleasure.
